#1 In the point of my porch roof...a beautiful little male sparrow has made his winter home. I noticed him a couple of weeks ago. I'm SOOO happy he has chosen my home to make his. And who knows...maybe, just maybe he will bring a family here to stay. I'm going to name him. And maybe write about his adventures, for I KNOW be has many for when I check throughout the day...he isn't home.

#2 His name shall be Sir Eldrin Ivy! Braver than he knows, stronger than he thinks....oh the adventures that await him!!!

#3 Eldrin was peacefully resting when all of a sudden he awoke to a strong wind that rattled his stance and a chill in his bones. As he lowered his wee head to see what had happened in just the short time he had been perched on the safety of his branched ivy...there it was!!!! WINTER!! Winter had arrived. Oh goodness he thought... With all this snow, how will we feathered folk find seed?....

#4 Morning...morning arrived to a snow covered patch of earth. Eldrin decided even though light of day had broke a while ago, he would stay perched on his ivy under the protection of this humans roof until he felt it was worth going out to try and find food and unfrozen water for the day. Every day...one more day....a fight for survival. Food, predators, mother nature...will the sun come out today? Will it warm up enough today?

#5 As Eldrin got enough courage to brave the day's cold and leave the safety of his purch, he was quickly greeted by many of his fellow feathered friends. Even a cute little female Sparrow he's had an eye for. They met in the local evergreen the house human called "gentle giant"...for it was a rather large size evergreen. Much to his joy, Eldrin noticed a patch of blue sky now and again and even some much appreciated sun that came out and allowed some snow to melt. Just enough for him and the others to enjoy some fresh water throughout the day and even forage for some seed, nuts or maybe even an insect that didn't hibernate or get frozen by old man winter.

#6 Sir Eldrin Ivy did not come home last night. He was not in/on his ivy perch. So the human of the house looked for him, watched for him in hopes he would return safe to his home in the ivy. The human came across the sweet little female Sparrow Eldrin was smitten with...the human spoke with her... ,"Hello, I'm Rhonda..I'm the human of this house. I see you live in the gentle giant... I hate to bother you, but I am concerned that Eldrin, the sparrow who lives in the ivy branches that are tucked into to point of my porch roof didn't come home last night. Would you happen to know where he is?" The sweet little female Sparrow responded, "hello. I'm Phoebe Rainbite. I did see Sir Eldrin yesterday morning, but not today. But I'd like to thank you for the beautiful evergreens, food and water you've provided for us over the years. If I see Sir Eldrin I'll be sure to let him know you're worried."

#7 Sir Eldrin Ivy was gone for two nights. No sign of him for two days and two nights. Oh how the human worried. But after Long hours of fret and worry...Eldrin showed up! Perched on the edge of the ivy branches as if time had stopped. As if nothing happened. So with a very curious mind as to where Sir Eldrin had been for the past couple of days, the human, Rhonda made herself a cup of tea, grabbed a quilt and sat down on the steps of the house just under Sir Eldrin's place of perch and very politely asked him to please explain where he had gone off to

#8 Sir Eldrin Ivy came out from the eves of the house so he and Rhonda could chat face to face. Rhonda expressed her concern to Eldrin and how worried she was when he didn't come back to his home. She tried to do so without making him feel chastied,m for it was out of love that she was worried. He seemed to understand that and his heart was warmed by her sentiment. Sir Eldrin explained that he had been out scouting for a more appropriate home to move into when Spring comes near. That he had his eye on a sweet little  Sparrow named Phoebe. He unfortunately got caught up in all that the area had to offer for perfect home sites and how many other residents were in his local area that he was unaware of. Oh the excitement he felt when sharing that with the human...

#9 Eldrin explained to Rhonda of the new friends he had made. And how he had lost track of time and with it getting dark so early now, his new friends offered him to perch near them for the night. And the next day noticed that his new found friends had a steady supply of food and water. And near by were MANY evergreens to make possable homes in. Also there in the neighboring trees were these perfect size wooden boxes with just the right size hole to come and go out of. Another place to consider moving into. So once again, he got caught up in all this new area had to offer so ended up staying a second night away with his new friends. His new friends he discribed to Rhonda, sounded very much familiar. Eldrin spoke of these new feathered friends as being much larger than himself, very pretty and some were multi colored. They always seemed to have food and water in their home. And he even talked about where he had perched for the two nights...sounded very much like the chickens and their coop. Oh how excited Rhonda was knowing Eldrin wasn't planning on moving far.

#10 Sir Eldrin Ivy over the past few days has really enjoyed the new friends he has been making. He has decided without a doubt that Hagen's Haven will remain his home base. Eldrin had noticed that Rhonda, the house human has CATS! And if that wasn't unnerving for most...she also encouraged OTHER cats to come around by feeding what she calls "stay kitty and Bob". WHAT is she thinking??!! Thankfully she had taken measures to ensure the safety of those "boxes" that are just perfect for homes for us feathered ones. Otherwise one might not ever sleep. Sir Eldrin Ivy thought allot about Phoebe. But has seen many other sparrows close by bidding for her attention. He decided to enjoy his new found friendships with a local dove, and even a scrub Jay...though very intimidating due to their size, he found himself really enjoying the company and wisdom they have. He hopes to gain some insight from them to help him with life outside the kingdom's wall. Yes...you read that right...kingdom's walls. Thus the name...SIR Eldrin Ivy. He wasn't always a porch percher!
